N-Type & Surge collaborate again to bring you another genre breaking EP that pushes the boundaries of 140bpm / Dubstep / bass music. Their ethos in the studio is to break from the ‘norm’ an experiment freely with Groove, melody & bass whilst injecting influences from their roots. This is a clear evolution from their last EP “September Sun” which featured and almost classical score (September Sun Ft Pyxis) to hard hitting dance floor fillers like “Zombie apocalypse” & “Mega-tron”. “Stampede EP” is the next step on with a combination of different Flavors that show they are unafraid to experiment within the 140bpm tempo. The hard hitting Dance floor track “Stampede” kicks off the EP, with an industrial kick and Sub driven stepper! “Colder than Mars” is a more traditional Dubstep Roller with elements of Grime and distorted Reece's. “Katnip” breaks the mold again with rolling percussion and Jungle / hardcore influenced breaks. “Increments” is a Reggae / Dub style track with the percussion talents of Anthony Rock on the Hang drum. The Hang drum uses some of the same basic physical principles as a steel pan, but modified in such a way as to act as a Helmholtz resonator. The creation of the Hang was the result of many years of research on the steel pan and other instruments. Anthony is a talented percussionist who plays an infectious melody that compliments N-Type & Surge’s use of instruments and bass. “Increments” has an almost ‘Western’ sound and is Dub track, full of emotion and vibe. The bonus track “Clobber” completes the EP with a up tempo, 808 minimal baseline roller with massive ‘Acid’ style 303 second drop. The vocal sample puts the icing on the cake courtesy of award winning Breaks DJ/Producer Krafty Kuts. The “Stampede EP” has gained exclusive support from N-Type on Rinse Fm, Surge, Hatcha on Kiss 100fm, Walsh, Quest (Antisocial ent) and Chefal (Flex Fm).
